Football Attendance & Participation
Players Commitment:
Being part of a football team is more than just showing up—it’s about commitment, accountability, and supporting your teammates. Every player has an important role, and your presence at practice and games impacts the entire team.
Football isn’t an individual sport—it’s about working together, trusting your teammates, and putting in the effort on and off the field. Your coaches and teammates are counting on you to be present, prepared, and engaged every time you step onto the field.
Being a great teammate means:
- Showing up—Commit to attending all practices, games, and team meetings.
- Giving 100% effort—Push yourself to improve and help your teammates do the same.
- Learning and mastering plays—Understanding the game makes you a stronger player and a better teammate.
- Prioritizing safety—Football requires skill and discipline. Practicing consistently ensures you can play safely and protect your teammates.
- Leading by example—Encourage, support, and respect your teammates, coaches, and the game itself.
Football is a team commitment, not just a personal one. When you put in the work, your team gets stronger. Your teammates need you—show up, give your best, and be the player they can count on.
By signing this waiver, you confirm your child is committed to the above.
Attendance Guidelines
Attendance is essential—every player holds an important role on the team. Football requires 100% commitment; please do not schedule other sports or activities on practice or game days. The league enforces a strict game play policy, if we are forced to forfeit due to players unable to attend - we may face a fine and further discipline.
Excused absences include:
- Illness
- Family emergencies
- Religious holidays
- Mandatory school functions
If an excused absence occurs, inform your coach in advance and update TeamSnap ASAP so coaches can adjust practice drills and game lineups accordingly.
Practice & Game Expectations
Playing time is determined by:
- Attendance
- Knowledge of plays
- Mastery of safe playing techniques (at the coach’s discretion)
Football requires teamwork and safety. Missed practices can create safety risks for both the individual player and their teammates. Our coaches prioritize safety and will always err on the side of caution.
Playing time is earned, not guaranteed, and is determined by several key factors:
- Attendance & Commitment – Players who consistently show up to practice and games demonstrate dedication to the team and have more opportunities to play.
- Effort & Attitude – Giving 100% in practice, staying engaged, and being a supportive teammate all contribute to earning time on the field.
- Knowledge of Plays – Understanding the team’s playbook and executing assignments correctly is essential for game time readiness.
- Skill Development & Safety – Football is a physical sport, and playing time is based on a player's ability to safely and effectively perform their role. If you don’t know your assignments or proper techniques, you not only put yourself at risk but also your teammates.
Missed practices impact playing time—not just for the individual player, but for the entire team. Every player has a role, and being absent can affect game strategy, chemistry, and overall team performance.
Coaches will always make decisions based on what’s best for the team while ensuring a fair and safe environment for all players
Game & Practice Requirements:
- Practices: 2-3 times per week (1.5hrs a practice) beginning early August
- Pre-game walkthroughs: Saturdays (younger teams may not require these)
- Games: 1x per week (usually Sundays, but may occur on other days/nights including Friday or Saturday)
- Pregame warm-up: 1 hour before kickoff
Official team weigh-ins: 1 hour before game time. Nassau County Youth Football League required these. You must weigh in to play. (failure to weigh in results in sitting out the first half or entire game)
